We are looking forward to a fun, exciting, educational and rewarding experience for us all. In order to provide you with all the registration and payment procedures, please refer to the following details. Please contact us if you have any questions.

The event will be held at the Cavalier Resort located on the ocean just 5 miles from the store in San Simeon, California. The weekend will run from 3pm Friday, March 15, 2019 through Noon Sunday, March 17, 2019. The fee includes instruction from Gwen Bortner, lodging for both nights (If you’re staying at the resort), dinner Friday, breakfast, lunch, and a Special Dinner Saturday as well as breakfast Sunday. The fee for a non-knitter includes Lodging (shared room) dinner Friday, breakfast, lunch and the Special Dinner Saturday as well as breakfast Sunday morning.
The meals, except for the Saturday night event, are all together buffet style in a large room adjacent to our training room, ocean views included! Saturday night will be a delightful dinner at one of Cambria’s finest restaurants. Wine and dessert are included! If you would like to invite someone to the Saturday night dinner, we will be able to add them later. Details and pricing will come later. Details about extra nights at the hotel will come later, but let us know in the registration form if you want extra nights in order to extend your stay.
Schedule (May change as we get closer)
- Friday 3 PM: Meet at The Cavalier to get our keys and start the class. (Check-in is at 3, the class will start almost immediately!).
- Friday Dinner: It’s always great to see old friends and make new ones!
- Saturday: After breakfast, Begin working. Lunch.
- Saturday Evening: A fabulous dinner event!
- Sunday AM: More class time after breakfast, and we’re done by Noon!

Prerequisites: As this isn’t a traditional class, all skill levels are welcome. Must be willing to learn something new that might change your perception of the world around you!
We’re staying at the Cavalier Resort, a beautiful resort hotel located on the ocean a short distance from the shop.
As we and the Cavalier want to make sure you have a great experience – all of our rooms this year will be at the Cavalier and all of them have at least a small view of the ocean! We think you’ll love the accommodations this year.
The Standard Rooms come with either 1 King or 2 Queen beds.
All other rooms come with 1 King bed.
The ADA rooms are deluxe King bed rooms.
The Premium Rooms sell out fast!
The classes and most of our meals will take place in the beautiful, glass walled conference rooms with views of the ocean!

The following are the policies and procedures for this event. Please read them carefully, and please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about them. We’re doing our best to be fair to everyone!
Registrations will be accepted on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis based on payment date and time. If the class fills before we get to your registration, we will contact you to discuss options.
The first step is to register on line using the form below or by calling us or stopping by the store any day from 10 – 5. Then either call at 805-927-3280 for payment information, or you can send us a check, or you can click here to pay on-line at our e-commerce store. You can also go to our on-line store and look for “Events”.
Registrations are confirmed upon payment in full or a $200 deposit. Spots in the class are first come – first served based on payment date and time. To qualify for early bird pricing, deposit must be received by Friday, November 30, 2018.
Final Payments and balances need to be in by January 11, 2019! (Yes, we’ll remind you)
In the (fairly unlikely) event the class does not run, we will refund the entirety of your payments. If you cancel your plans prior to November 30, 2018, you will receive a full refund minus the deposit, unless we can fill your spot, in which case we will gladly refund your deposit. If you cancel your registration after November 30, 2018, and we are unable to fill your place, we regret to say we will be unable to refund your payments.
