Intro to Double Knitting @ Ball & Skein
Feb 15 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Trapper CowlSOLD OUT!

Join us on Saturday, February 15 at 9AM.

Double knitting is a knitter’s dream: a reversible fabric with two-color patterning that’s stockinette on both sides, with no floats! This class is taught by Lisa Myers, the US Distributor for Manos del Uruguay.

In this class you’ll learn how to manage the two strands of yarn, read double-knitting charts, and measure gauge in this technique that gives a double-thick fabric that’s beautiful on both sides. By the end of this class, you’ll have all the skills you need to make the Trapper Cowl.

Prerequisite skills: long-tail cast-on, knit, purl, and work 1×1 rib. Some experience reading charts helpful but not essential.

Weekend Away #9
Mar 6 @ 3:00 pm – Mar 8 @ 12:00 pm

Join us from March 6 through March 8 for our 9th annual Weekend Away as we explore Gradients, Fades, and Transitionswith Gwen Bortner!

Gwen BortnerGradients, fades and transitions – different names for yarns and kits that create a similar look – beautiful fabric moving through a range of colors. What might come as a surprise is you can create your own transitional fabric, in your own choice of colors with minimal stress and maximum success. The secret is understanding a few “formulas” for combining yarns and a couple of simple guidelines for selecting colors. And the best news is that the knitting is easy! Think stockinette, seed stitch, moss stitch, or garter. Come for a relaxing weekend of knitting as we explore all things gradient.

We will begin by playing with color and discussing the advantages of working with multiple strands of very fine yarns to create a dynamic fabric. Next we will discuss some of the tricks and a few “no-fail” formulas for moving from one color to the next. All the while we will be creating a one-of-a-kind cowl (or scarf) in your own personally designed, signature gradient  fabric. Join the fun and see all the fabulous options that are waiting when you take control of your own gradient!

As a bonus, all the yarn you’ll need for the class is included! In addition, you’ll receive a 20% discount on all non-sale items you purchase that weekend.
