Making Small Things @ Ball & Skein & More
May 18 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Making Small Things

Always wanted to work on those small projects that are great around the home or fabulous as quick gifts?

This session is very informal for either knitters or crocheters or both! You will be provided with patterns to include, making bunnies out of a knit or crochet square, knit or crochet sachets, and maybe a surprise pattern or two!

We will be learning techniques to make shaped items. By working on these fun projects you will learn tips and tricks to make up quick projects. As these are simple projects, you may want to try to work on either a knitted or crocheted piece, or both.

For the class will use be provided a skein of a Berroco Pima 100 yarn in the class. The yarn is 100% Pima Cotton, ideal for small projects.

By taking the class, you’ll receive:

1 skein of Berroco Pima 100 yarn
Free “Ball & Skein Bunnies” pattern (both knit and crochet version)
Free “Ball & Skein Sachet” pattern (both knit and crochet version)
A 20% Discount on all purchases that day.

What you’ll need to bring:

1 set of US6/4.00mm double point needles
1 US H/6.0mm crochet hook
1 darning needle

Homework:
If you are planning on working on a knitted or crochet bunny you will need to bring with you a completed 6×6” square (or as many squares and you want bunnies!).
Knit version – Make the square in stockinette stitch (knit one row, purl one row).
Crochet version – Make the square using the single crochet stitch.
Please note: You can make squares out of any yarn weight and they don’t have to be exactly 6”. We recommend using a needle or hook size one or two sizes smaller than your yarn recommends, as the square should be dense.
Please bring approx. 10 yards of extra yarn from your swatch for sewing up your bunny, and making the tail.

Prerequisites:
You should be able to cast-on, knit, purl, and bind off without assistance for the knitters, OR
be able to chain, and single crochet without assistance for the crocheters.

Pricing: 49.00

Knit the Metalouse Shawl @ Ball & Skein & More
Jun 15 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Who doesn’t like expanding their knitting abilities? Join us on Saturday June 15, from 9AM to Noon! In this class, we’ll use Stephen West’s Metalouse Shawl pattern to introduce using color and texture in your knitting.

Metalouse

We find Stephen’s patterns to have an architectural element to them. This pattern incorporates a corrugated ridge stitch pattern using one self striping yarn and one solid color used to create columns.  The columns are created using a slip stitch pattern that is easy to master.  In the class, we’ll start by selecting colors for your shawl where we’ll discuss how colors can work together to create the effect you may be looking for. After that, we will move on to practice working with the two colors and the slip stitch pattern. Once you have the techniques you need to make the shawl, you’re off and knitting!

By taking the class, you’ll receive:

  • Metalouse Pattern by Stephen West
  • 1 skein Noro Silk Garden Sock (color of your choice)
  • 2 skeins GGH Volante yarn distributed by Trendsetter Yarn Group (also the color of your choice)
  • A 20% Discount on all purchases that day.

What you’ll need to bring:

  • 1 US 7/4.5mm 40” circular needle
  • Stitch markers
  • 1 darning needle

Prerequisites:

  • You should be able to cast-on, knit, purl, and bind off without assistance.
